I spent quite a lot of time choosing this bag, because I wasn't simply looking for something pretty — I wanted something that would genuinely fit the style I am trying to build. I compared different shapes, colours, proportions and levels of branding, including looking at much more expensive bags such as the Giorgio Armani La Prima. What ultimately made me choose the JLR Richmond was the combination of structure, elegance, practicality and understated design. The ecru colour was a major factor for me. It is soft and sophisticated without being overly delicate, and it works beautifully with navy, cream, tan and chocolate — colours I wear frequently. I also specifically wanted a top-handle bag. There is something much more polished and feminine about carrying a structured bag by its handle, while having the option of the shoulder strap when practicality is more important. I particularly like that the Richmond has a defined shape without looking overly formal or covered in branding. For me, it has that understated, almost timeless quality I was looking for — elegant rather than flashy. The comparison with more expensive designer bags was interesting because I realised that a higher price doesn't necessarily mean that a particular bag is better for you. The question is whether the design, proportions, colour and functionality are right for your own wardrobe and lifestyle. At £75, I felt the Richmond gave me exactly the aesthetic I was looking for without compromising on practicality. After all the analysis, I am very happy with my choice. It feels feminine, polished and versatile, and most importantly, it feels like me. A very considered purchase — and one I can see myself using for years. The delivery was also quick and efficient.

A little over 18 months ago, we moved to leather... and in doing so, we lost some of the women who had grown with us from the beginning.
